Throwback Thursday

These are all pics of me, Baby Rocket Dog, as a pup.  Mommy and Daddy loved to hold me on their laps back then.  Now I only half fit on a lap, but I still do it!  The Persian in the bottom photo was Chuck the Cat.  I loved his fuffy tail, but he didn't like me trying to play with it.  Hope you all are having a great week!

How We Helped Daddy in August...

Okay, maybe we weren't that great a help.  But, we had lots of fun watching Daddy prepare a seating area in our little dog park here at Smiling Moose Point.  I, BRD, stayed close by Dad, so he could throw my ball every few minutes for me.  Hootie decided that sitting up near the cabin provided a better view.  The finished project is a nice, flat area for the folks to sit at while watching us romp.  So, what do you think?  Should we keep Dad on staff for future projects?? Bol.

What We Did In May...

                                                                    On I-90 to N. Idaho

                                                                Daddy...Daddy??

This is my dad and me the day of my surgery.

I was feeling a bit loopy.  You can see it in my eyes.

A few days later I was getting used to "the cone of shame"...Still not liking it though.

Here is Hootie Bug at the Mutt Strutt.
Hootie and me after getting my cone off.

May was a busy month for us.  We traveled to our cabin in North Idaho from Phoenix and made the 1500 mile trip in 2 days!  Daddy was an amazing driving machine.  He didn't even stop to blow his nose. BOL. We were our usual well behaved selves unlike Dad. Of course we've made this trip many times before. For fun, Hootie got to go to the Mutt Strutt for Pawsitive Works (I couldn't go due to my stitches--see later explanation.) and he won the costume contest and brought home a nice basket of treats. Good work brother!  OH, and Hootie and Miss Sally Ann Stanley announced on Face Book that they were secretly married!!  Yes, they finally tied the knot.  Here is the announcement:

BREAKING NEWS! (Finally) Mr. Hairy "Hootie" Houdini-Phillips is proud to announce that he and his fiancé of 2 years, Miss Belleville Sally Ann Stanley, were married March 1st, 2013, St. David's Day. They eloped to the village of Gretna Green, in the south of Scotland. Neither party's parents were made aware of this secret ceremony until just recently. The happy couple will be maintaining homes in Arizona, Georgia and Idaho so they can take care of Hootie's aging parents and also enjoy the night-life of Atlanta with Sally Ann's mother and little brother, Andy.

Okay, you are probably wondering why I, Baby Rocket Dog, have the "cone of shame" in the photos above.  Well, I had an operation not long after we arrived in farrr North Idaho in May.  It seems I am a lumpy dog.  While giving me a bath in April my daddy found a lump the size of a human thumb just below my bum. The folks took me to a veterinarian  in Wickenburg, Arizona and he said it should be removed when we got back up to Idaho.  My surgery by Dr. Hall went well and it was determined that I had a perianal adenoma (which is benign). That was a good thing.  Two weeks with that stupid cone on was no treat, but Daddy and Mommy would take it off when they could keep a close watch on me.   (I really wanted to lick it...those stitches were itchy!)  I had my stitches removed 2 weeks later and now I'm free of the cone.  Hootie seems unusually interested in my bum now, but other than that, things are back to normal.  I hope your May was lovely!

Hoping You Had A Merry Christmas & Wishing A Happy New Year!

This is Hootie doing a good "sit" for Daddy.
Here I am getting my instructions for catching the ball from Daddy.
Now, this is not an attractive shot of either Hootie or myself.  Sheesh Mommy!!
This is me reluctantly posing for next years Christmas picture.
Hootie is a bit blurrred in this one, but Mommy liked how he looks so pensive.

We've had a ton of snow up here in farrr N.Idaho this December.  That's fine by us, 'cuz it means we get to play in the snow and go snowshoeing with the folks.  Hootie changes his Christmas sweaters every few days because he has a bunch of them.  I, on the other hand, try to stay OUT of those stupid things.  Mommy makes me wear them on occasion, but I act like I'm being tortured, so she sets me free soon there after. he he.  We had our joint Christmas photo taken for next year, if you can believe that.  This year we finked out and didn't have one...the weird one below is the closest we came...so I guess we'll make up for it next year.

Well, better go now.  Sure hope any of our buddies seeing this have a wonderful holiday season and a great 2013!

A Look at Our Happy St.Patrick's Day!

Daddy, Mommy & the two of us went to the St. Patrick's Day parade today.  It was so much fun.  We met a little Yorkie named Harley.  And there was this poor little girl Basset Hound who had never been out to a parade and she was SOoooo scared.  And you HAVE to watch the video here of the Irish Wolf Hounds...the very end is just adorable. And there was a Dachshund with a silly hat on. And a Border Collie with a tutu.  And the Arizona Basset Club had a bunch of pooches all dressed in green.  And each year there is a cowgirl lady riding the horse of a different color, just like in The Wizard of Oz! Oh my it was a fun time.
We met lots of nice hoomans and sweet pooches too, but  towards the end of the parade we were getting bored and were ready to go home. All in all, the Phoenix St. Paddy's Day Parade was a fine experience!                    Smooches from pooches,    Baby Rocket Dog & Hootie

In Honor & Memory of Our Veterans

I've taken over the pooches blog to post this for Veteran's Day, November 11, 2011.
Thank you to all the vets. We appreciate your service to our country. God bless you, and
God bless America. Also, Happy Canada Day to our northern neighbors.

ME! & A Plug For Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue

This photo was taken right before our dad left for Phoenix. I was enjoying my time with him, but when it comes to photographs, I really like to be the center of attention.

Ahhhh yes, that's more like it....

Our 2011 SWAT engagement calendar came in the mail and we are very impressed. There are at least a zillion photos of Airedales in this lovely book, and every photo has a story about the adopted pooch. My only complaint is that I'M not featured in it anywhere!! Is that Welshie discrimination?

Here is some info about SWAT that is included in the engagement calendar. They're good folks.

We're in the lockup at Dr. Hall's for a few days while Mommy stands by our daddy's side for support. (I brought a few "pin-ups" of SallyAnn and Lacie to decorate our kennel.) Even so, we'll be popping in on you to see what's going on in your neck of the woods.

Break Time For Daddy ~ Play Ball!!

When Dad was home he was working like a slave hand sanding our 3-sided deck and rails. We asked him to take a break and play a little ball with us, so he obliged. He's such a nice guy!! We tried to post these pictures 2 weeks ago, but blogger was acting squirrely, so decided to post it now. We miss you Dad! Hope you all have a great weekend.

The Independence Day Parade & MORE Flat Brutus

Here we are with Flat Brutus heading to the airport to pick Dad up.
This is Mommy, Daddy Flat Brutus, Hootie and me at the 4th of July Parade.
Our buddy Dr. Dre and his mama with flat Brutus.
More of the July 4th Parade.
Yet more of Flat Brutus and the parade. (Hey, where are we??)

Here I am at the hotel in Spokane with Flat Brutus.
I let him play with my toys!

This is Dad, Hootie and our guest, Flat Brutus at the Ramada Inn.

More parade...Don't those flags look glorious?!

Daddy with Hootie and moi!

Mommy with Hootie & me watching the parade.

We had to drive to Spokane, Washington to pick up our daddy last Friday and his plane was canceled. But, he did make it in to Spokane, but veryyyyy late at night so we got to stay at the Ramada Airport Inn. It was lots of fun because we got to introduce Flat Brutus to our pop and also got to run in the rain. Lucky for us Mommy bought us some kibble so we didn't have to starve to death. She also got us some new toys that we broke out at the hotel. On our way home we stopped to watch an Independence Day parade and also stopped in for a quick visit with our buddy Dr. Dre. We wanted to introduce him to Flat Brutus before he left Idaho. All in all, it was not a bad weekend for us. The weather was nice and our dad is home. Yippee!!
