Hoping You Had A Merry Christmas & Wishing A Happy New Year!

This is Hootie doing a good "sit" for Daddy.
Here I am getting my instructions for catching the ball from Daddy.
Now, this is not an attractive shot of either Hootie or myself.  Sheesh Mommy!!
This is me reluctantly posing for next years Christmas picture.
Hootie is a bit blurrred in this one, but Mommy liked how he looks so pensive.

We've had a ton of snow up here in farrr N.Idaho this December.  That's fine by us, 'cuz it means we get to play in the snow and go snowshoeing with the folks.  Hootie changes his Christmas sweaters every few days because he has a bunch of them.  I, on the other hand, try to stay OUT of those stupid things.  Mommy makes me wear them on occasion, but I act like I'm being tortured, so she sets me free soon there after. he he.  We had our joint Christmas photo taken for next year, if you can believe that.  This year we finked out and didn't have one...the weird one below is the closest we came...so I guess we'll make up for it next year.

Well, better go now.  Sure hope any of our buddies seeing this have a wonderful holiday season and a great 2013!

Good News & Our Memorial Day Pics

This is me and Hootie with our mommy and her good friend, Candace.
Here we are again with Mommy and Candace's husband, Dawson.

Note from the mommy, Cassie:
Good news: Baby Rocket Dog's biopsies came back and they were not tumors OR fatty deposits. Turns out the one was a necrosis (a mass of dead tissue/cells) caused by a *traumatic injury. The other was the result of the necrosis...a giant lymph node coping with it. Because it is STILL draining, the drains have to stay in another week. She is home now, as the drainage isn't as bad as it was. She is still confined to the mud room, but happy to be able to go for walks with me and be home I think. Thank you for all who prayed for her and sent good wishes.

Now, back to me, Baby Rocket Dog!  These photos were taken before my surgery...happier days. The top one was taken by Hootie's favorite man-friend, Dawson and the other was taken by Mommy's buddy, Candace.

I was glad to get back home, but not very thrilled to be confined to the mudroom.  Mom let me into the main cabin when I first got home and I immediately wanted to rub myself all over the carpets.  Oops. That wasn't a good move, 'cause she said I was still draining.  Draining!!  Sheesh, I'm not a bathtub or a sink.  Anyway, I'm actually being a very good girl. I have an odd smell about me from the fluids still coming out of me (that's what Mom, aka the Nose says). I have 6 new t-shirts that I have to wear all the time and I get to have them changed at least 3 times a day. I HATE that. Oh joy!  Hootie is very happy that I'm home also, but is sad that we can't play togethers.  Sometimes he sits outside the mudroom door and cries for me.  It's a Dutch door, so I can still get to hear what is going on in the rest of the cabin.  Anywhooo, thank you all so much for your love, crossed paws, concern and prayers.  NOW, I need to get visiting all your blogs to see what's going on in blogville.

AireSmooches,
Baby Rocket Dog

*We figured that the traumatic injury must have been from when she runs into trees when fetching her ball. She really plows into things when on the ball quest, and that is the only thing we could think of that would be a traumatic injury. She has never been hit by a car or anything like that.

Still Waiting...

Here I am waiting for my sister, BabyRocket Dog, to come home.
 And waiting.
And still waiting.

Well, those drains that they put into Baby Rocket Dog are letting out lots of fluid.  Looks like blood, but the vet said it's a mixture and just trying to fill the void that the tumors made.  She has been staying at the vets because all the blood & the smell of blood made Mom sick.  Really.  She couldn't keep her cookies down. Ugh.  There still is no word from the University Of Washington about the biopsies.  Mom went to change Baby's shirt and walk her today. They were so happy to see each other.  BabyRD's cubical  had been washed once already in the morning, but she cleaned it again, and again, Mom got sick.  Dr. Hall said that he had been trying to figure out how he could bandage her wounds, but because of where they are located it is difficult.  I guess I'll have to be an only "child" for a bit longer.  Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. We appreciate them so much.

Warning! Graphic Pictures of Baby's Surgery...

They discovered another lump when Baby Rocket Dog went in for her surgery today.
Her drains are oozing blood and she still isn't feeling well.
I'm guarding the living room, since I'm 2nd in command & Baby's out of commission.
They didn't want me bothering BabyRD since she is in recovery after her surgery, so she is staying in our mudroom.  I sat next to the mudroom door after she came home and cried for her for about an hour.  I miss her.

Mommy and I will go to the thrift store tomorrow morning and buy BRD some t-shirts.  The vet's office said it would be good to keep her in a t-shirt while she has the drains in.  Her IV pain medication will wear off by tomorrow, so she has a pain pill to take for the next 5 days.  She is a very good girl and hasn't complained at all so far. She threw up once, and hasn't even had any food at all since yesterday. Sheesh.

Dr. Hall sent Baby's tumors away to University of Washington for biopsy and we should know the outcome by Monday.  Thank you all for your prayers and crossed paws.  Please keep it up!

PS-We never made it to the Mutt Strutt last Saturday because our mommy was in the ER with a kidney stone. We couldn't figure out how such a little thing would put her in the hospital! She's good now...Good thing too,  'cuz we need her to take care of us.

Catchin' Up Now That We're Back In N.Idaho!

Here I am, home again, where my heart is! This picture was taken a couple days ago. Does my hair look long to you?  Mom made me get another haircut today...She thought it would make me feel pretty.
Hootie's hairs were reallllly long, so he sure needed that haircut today. Eyes? Eyes??
Today is Frankie Day!!  We just found out and are so happy to help celebrate our buddy. For a great tribute to Mayor Frankie, check out Jazzi's blog here.

The 2nd annual Pawsitive Works 5k Mutt Strutt is this Saturday.  Not sure if Mommy will be taking both of us though.  Daddy is back in Phoenix now, so it's hard to say if we'll both get to go.  Will let you know!

I, Baby Rocket Dog, have a surgery next Thursday for a tumor on my neck.  Would appreciate it if you all would say a prayer for me, cross your paws, or send good vibes.  I'm not really concerned, but sissy Mama nearly started crying at the vet yesterday morning after Dr.Hall said I needed to have it removed and sent away for biopsy.

Signing off for now.  Lots of love.

WooHoo!! Great Sale at Mr. Chewy TODAY!!

Dear poochettes and poocherootis,

We have been eating Blue Buffalo dry food since last September and really like it.  It has gone up in price since we first bought it, so Mommy has been very careful to shop around for the best price. Here is the comparison of prices for our Blue Buffalo Lamb & Brown Rice, 30# bag:

$53.50 Doggiefood.com

$50.99 Mr.Chewy.com

$52.52 petco.com

$56.99 petflow.com

$52.99 petsmart.com

$57.99 pettango.com

$52.99 at both PetSmart and PetCo. stores.

While up in N.Idaho, in the boondocks, Mommy ordered our food through Mr.Chewy
and was very happy with their front door service.  It was free shipping on orders $49+ and both bags came in their own individual box, so it wasn't too heavy for her to carry them inside.  We also have ordered it while in Phoenix and she has found it much easier than schlepping a heavy bag from the store, and fighting city traffic. Not to mention, it is the cheapest outlet for our food that she has found!  They carry all different brands of food, treats, & medicines and even have sales. In fact, TODAY only, they have 15% off storewide!!  Such a deal.  Their website, https://www.mrchewy.com, is very easy to maneuver around and you can call them with your order too. Their toll free phone number is 1-800-MR-CHEWY. Easy peasy!!  So, we highly recommend Mr.Chewy for all these reasons.  We hope you check them out & let us know how you like them.

Hellooooooo Out There...Are You Still There?!

Here we are lounging at home on the couch.  It's been over 100degrees here in Phoenix for 3 days in a row, so we are very glad to have nice A/C to relax in.

This is Hootie after his time with Miss Sally Ann at the Naughty Terrier Club party last weekend. He asked her to marry him for real!!  What do you think she said?
Here I am just after my getting my hairs cut last week At Applewood Pet Resort.
This final photo is Hootie exiting the chute on his last day of agility class a few weeks ago. He had just gotten his hairs cut a few days before.  Not a great cut, but at least it's cooler.

So sorry we haven't posted in such a long time.  That darned FaceBook has taken over our mommy's life, so it seems.  Once we get back up north to our cabin though, she promised to back off FB and keep us current on our bloggie.  Oh we are soooo excited.

I, Baby Rocket Dog, was pretty sick a couple weeks ago.  The folks were afraid I had a blockage because I vomited my meal 2 nights in a row, but it turned out I had a UTI, urinary tract infection.  They found that out after 2 days of x-rays, IV fluids, anti vomit injection, white rice and boiled chicken and finally what should have been done FIRST a urine specimen.  I took 10 days of Clavamox and now am back to my bouncy, old self!!

Well, it looks like we will be on the road on Hootie's 4th birthday, May 6th, so once again, the folks get away without baking a special cake for one of us.  This is becoming a habit with them. Sheesh.

Okay buddies, signing off for now.  Hope you all are having a great Spring (Winter in Oz) so far.

A Look at Our Happy St.Patrick's Day!

Daddy, Mommy & the two of us went to the St. Patrick's Day parade today.  It was so much fun.  We met a little Yorkie named Harley.  And there was this poor little girl Basset Hound who had never been out to a parade and she was SOoooo scared.  And you HAVE to watch the video here of the Irish Wolf Hounds...the very end is just adorable. And there was a Dachshund with a silly hat on. And a Border Collie with a tutu.  And the Arizona Basset Club had a bunch of pooches all dressed in green.  And each year there is a cowgirl lady riding the horse of a different color, just like in The Wizard of Oz! Oh my it was a fun time.
We met lots of nice hoomans and sweet pooches too, but  towards the end of the parade we were getting bored and were ready to go home. All in all, the Phoenix St. Paddy's Day Parade was a fine experience!                    Smooches from pooches,    Baby Rocket Dog & Hootie

Rest In Peace El Gato

This is Mommy and Daddy with their GrandSonCat, El Gato.

The following is a post that our mama made on her blog this past Thursday. We wanted to share it with you.

Our daughter and son in law's Chartreaux cat, El Gato, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, 2/28/12.  He was rushed to the emergency vet and pronounced dead on arrival.  The vet said that he probably had an aneurism that ruptured, causing sudden death.  There was nothing that could be done to save him.  He was a wonderful boy and I fell in love with him from the moment I met him 9 years ago. Everyone who met him, cat folk or not, thought he was a wonderful cat.

Here is a little history about this serene fellow:   The "kids" adopted Gato early on in their marriage, after finding him starving, shaggy and frightened in the woods in Issaquah, WA.  They went around to all the local vets and also posted "Cat Found" posters around the area.  He was "de-clawed" (brutal amputation at the knuckles) when they found him so they figured he was someones indoor cat. When no one came forward to claim him, they went about getting his proper shots, etc. while nursing him back to health.  He totally became their cat.  The only thing I can say derogatory about Gato is that he was a miserable not a good traveler.  The kids only made one car trip with him to visit us in Idaho and it was a nightmare apparently.  Though he was normally very quiet he made noise and poohed and up-chucked the whole 9 hour trip. I think that was probably his one and only road trip...and maybe the only time he was naughty. About 2 years ago when Gato was at the vet it was discovered that he had a chip implanted in him.  The kids were devastated, fearing they would loose their wonderful cat, but knew the people that had owned him originally were probably missing him all those years. They prayed about what to do and decided they needed to contact the original owners. After many tears, they were prepared for the worst but hoped for the best.  The man that they talked with said that Gato was purchased for their little boy for his birthday, but when the cat ran away they got him another present. Just like that, he said, "No problem. He's your cat now."  Our daughter & SIL were so happy.  They called us to tell us the good news and we rejoiced with them.  Gato said nothing...he was a cat of few words, but we know he was happy too.

Rest in peace Gato.  You were a good boy and we will miss you.

Well, that is it.  Though we have been in the same city several times as Gato, we never got to meet him.  He was very high strung and afraid of dogs...And of course there was also the small matter of Hootie wanting to chase and munch on all cats.  We still will add our condolences to our hooman sissy and her husband.  RIP El Gato.

My 5th Barkday ~ And NoOne Remembered...

They did it again.  My birthday was February 1st, and guess what...My folks totally forgot about it.  How sad is that when your own family forgets your 5th  barkday?  Pretty sad.  Oh well, Mommy has promised me a nice walk up the mountain to help make up for this huge oversight.    Anybody elses folks ever forget their birthday, or am I the only one??  I don't know how to hold a grudge, so life goes on.
AireKisses,
Baby Rocket Dog

PS-It would sure cheer me up if anyone who visits our blog would leave a new photo and note on our guestbook (just under our masthead above). Thanks!

Mango Minster 2012 Entry for Baby Rocket Dog...

This is my Cracker Critters entry for MangoMinster 2012.
Enjoy, and remember to vote for me when the time comes!!

Oh yeah, and I am supposed to tell you why I'm a great Cracker Critter.  Well, I have a spring on my rump and that makes me very bouncy and cracker-like. I have an amazing sense of humor...Love to play jokes on Mama whilst she is in the bathroom.  I'm always running off with her clothes that she lays out for the morning.  I like to tug at her t-shirt, socks and other things too...as you will see in this video! And, I have a side gig as a singer, and I've been told my voice occasionally cracks (is that a stretch?).  Soooo, I think I am a good candidate for best Cracker Critter!!

My Peep Is A Flake...Here's Proof!

Can you see anything wrong with this picture (besides our Christmas decorations are still up)? Can you see anything yet??

How about now? Look closely at the upper cabinet.

Can you see it yet? Look very closely.

This is for the My Peep Is A Flake contest that is going on over at Franky Furter, Sarge and The Road Dogs blogs. Their blogs are: http://frankiefurterprice.blogspot.com/ , http://sargespeaksout.blogspot.com/ and http://roaddogtales.blogspot.com/ .

Here is an explanation of these pictures. On December 11th our daddy was putting knobs on Mommy's built in,hickory cabinetry, per her request. These cabinets are quite high off the ground, so Mommy told Daddy (aka FlakePeep/FP for this story) exactly where she wanted all the knobs. FP put the bottom 3 knobs just where she had requested. Ditto for the top right and middle knob. But, when he drilled the hole for the last knob and inserted it, it was about 3 inches lower than the others!! When FP said, "Oh oh!" Mom ran into the living room and when she saw what he had done, she burst out laughing. Daddy laughed a little too, after he got over his initial shock. BOL.

We chose this to show that Daddy is a flake at times...Mommy is a flake all of the time, so couldn't hone in on any one example of her flakiness.
