This Moose was visiting us in March.

 Both of us wanted to go outside to visit with her, but the peeps wouldn't allow it.

 SOooo, since we weren't allowed to "visit" with her, our place is still called:

News Flash:   Well, we thought Mrs. Moose was getting old really fast, but found out the white on her back is from something else.  Something really creepy.  Yup.  There was an article in the local paper about this and the accompanying photo looked a LOT like our moose.   Apparently there are some parasites called moose ticks and they can even KILL a moose.  We think that is probably why Mrs. Moose didn't have any calves with her this Spring.  The young calves can have over 50% of their blood drained by those vampire ticks and it's just too much for their young bodies. How sad.  The Billings, Montana Gazette had this story just yesterday & it tells more about the horrible moose tick, just click. Enough about that. Yuk.

Hootie and I, Baby Rocket Dog, have been enjoying our Winter and now Spring here in Farrr North Idaho.  Mommy and Daddy are really busy unpacking boxes and trying to de-clutter the cabin.  Good luck there folks...what a mess.  Can you spell hoarders?!   Bol.  Mom says it might take a good 6 months before things look "normal". 

Sorry we haven't been posting lately.  Google kind of had us confused.  We'll try to get our secretary to be better at keeping us up to date here.  So, time for us to sign off for now.  Hope you are all well and that 2014 is treating you peachy!

So Miss Moose Has Been Coming 'Round...

Miss Moose likes to munch on all the nice tender growth on our trees. Mommy was talking to Asta's mama online when we went crazy. Hootie was outside and was barking up a storm and Miss Moose totally ignored him. She just kept munching! I was inside barking. When Miss Moose left Mommy let me out on a lead. Well, I decided to try my now famous lunge and dash and once again broke another collar. Mom said this is getting old. Hmmmm. Not sure if she'll try to fix this one.

This and That

Yesterday evening we went for a ride around the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge with Mommy and got to see a mama moose and her calf. Here are a few pics we took:

Critters We Saw On Our Trip From Arizona To Idaho

Our Mom likes to say something is "cool as a moose". This fellow was upsome cool!!

We saw all kinds of critters on our journey from Arizona to North Idaho. Mommy actually got a few good photos of them along the way too. The Bull Moose in the pics is just getting his new antlers. They shed them in the Spring and start a whole new set. Who knows how large they will grow?! The Big Horn Sheep were right along side of the road and seemed quite unaffected by our barking at them. We are not very well behaved when we see new animals...we love to bark to let them know we see them. Both the moose and sheep were in Montana. The American Bison, also known as Buffalo, were in Wyoming. There are Bison here in N.Idaho too, at a ranch near the Canadian border. Maybe we'll get to bark at them sometime soon.

Now, for the surprise we got in Colorado. Mary's husband Jim bagged this 4 point buck (his name is Ralph) a few years ago and they decided to give it to us for our cabin!! Wasn't that a wonderful gift?? We are already used to Ralph hanging on the living room wall, so don't even bark at him. We save our barks for the live deer and moose that visit outside.

We will be here at our cabin at least until the end of November, so we'll post more photos as time goes by. Hope you have enjoyed the view!
