Help!! I think Forest Service Gal is trying to strangle me!!
I was a tad afraid of this living legend, Smokey the Bear, but Hootie had no trouble jumping up on him to get a little lovin'!! The Forest Service Girl with Smokey was there for his protection I think. Hootie jumps up on everybody, even famous bears!!
Here we are with Smokey and our Mommy too.
Today Mommy wanted to try out some kayaks at Dover Bay and it was a beautiful cool (and windy) day, so she brought us along. We had to stay in the car while she putzed about on the lake, but afterwards she walked us around so people could pet us and admire how well behaved we were. ha ha. We were so thrilled to meet Smokey!

ps--Sad news: The little bunny passed away on Friday. Jim said he probably had internal injuries.Hootie said he was sorry(that he didn't eat him when he could have).

Whoa....ya met a bear????? With a hat??? Dales are supposed to eat bears...we did find out this week that Babystan is AFRAID of bullfrogs...very afraid...it was hilaireous....he's afraid of geese too...sheeschech...

THAT'S Smokey the Bear? We're glad we got a preview, so we can be prepared! Mom's got a friend who's invited us to some park in the Rocky Mountains, and she knows Smokey up there. He's BIG! And alive! And you two are no munchkins. Does he eat little dogs?

Smokey the Bear looks like a lot of fun....we see real black bears up at our cottage and we sure wish that we didn't see 'em....scary buggers, they are....Gram is afraid of 'em....but not us....cause we know they are nothin' but big doggies in disguise....

We don't have Bears here - so we think you are very brave to stand next to one. He is wearing a hat and trousers - but no shirt - why not go all the way and wear a shirt? Your bears are very confusing...

Were you not a little scared of meeting a bear? We don't have any bears in Scotland, but Gail says that when she was wild camping in Glacier National Park, she had to hide away all the food, so there bears didn't eat it, and that bears can be quite fierce. I gather you are going to Glacier soon. It looks so beautiful (I've seen the photos in Gail's album). Are dogs allowed to run around there?

You two are getting some way cool adventures. The crazy old bat says that Smokey the Bear was one of her favorite books when she was a pup. I didn't know they had books when hoomans lived in caves!
We would have loved to meet Smokey the bear. He certainly looked friendly, he must have eaten a huge bowl of porridge that morning.

It's obvious to me that Baby, you were just lulling that big bear into a false sense of security before you SPRANG at his neck. I understand. Then you probably heard that he wasn't a "real" bear and thought "why waste my time?" Am I right?
Hootie, it seems to me you'd make friends with anyone or anything that gave out some lovin'. You're just that sweet.
Bummer about the bunny. Glad he's out of pain. And Hootie, you were just doing what came naturally (except the part where you actually gave the bunny to your mama).
