Yappy Hour and Costume Contest at Evens Coffee Co.

These first photos are of us trying on some of our costumes at home. The Yappy Hour also had a costume contest so we wanted to come prepared.

This soccer ball cap is Hootie's and they thought it was fun to have me try it on. Why do they get such laughs out of these things??

The folks decided this Bono vest fit me best, so this is what I wore to the costume party.

Actually this vest was pretty cool. Once I got used to it. At first I tried to roll it off!

Here's Hootie wearing one of the outfits that Mommy rejected. He loves his sailor hat. Can you tell?

This was another outfit that Mom rejected. Daddy said Paddington Bear wears a yellow raincoat.

The Bassets didn't dress up for the occasion. They decided to go to the party as dogs.

This Golden guys name was Elvis. Cool cape!

Here I am socializing...This was before I discovered the dog biscuit lady.

This big white guy's name was Dieter. Doesn't sound very French to me! He was a nice fellow.
I could hardly believe this is a devil dog. Way too sweet for that.

Hootie got some excellent butt sniffing time in when Dad left him off his leash. Poodle butt. Nice!

Isn't she a cute little ladybug? Can't remember her name, but her Momma was nice.

The butterfly is Miss Bella, Dr. Dre's girlfriend. She is part Airedale, so I'll call her sister Bella.

The Panhandle Animal Shelter benefited from the hoomans imbibing in wine and beer. Great!

Bella got caught in the gate and our daddy helped rescue her ~ that's his cute hooman butt!!

Dr. Dre was the one who told us about this party and we were so happy to see him again.

I, Baby Rocket Dog, didn't really have a costume. Mom said I was Sonny of Sonny & Cher, but I didn't have a wig to go with my vest, so no one knew who I was supposed to be. I spent most of my time hanging around the wine lady, 'cuz she had dog biscuits and if I sat and stared at her she'd give me some.

Here's a good shot of Hootie in his prison garb. The red, lighted collar was a last minute addition.

Here is the winners circle: The Oreos (2 black Labs and a yellow Lab) dressed as a singing group from the 80's won "Most Creative". Dr. Dre won for "Best Dressed". And Hootie won for "Best Bling"!! The prize for each was a nice bag of coffee beans. Do you think we'll ever see them?? I think not.

And here is Dr. Dre and Hootie basking in the lime light. I must say they were pretty cute.

Sure hope you all enjoyed the night at the Yappy Hour as much as we did! Have a great week end.

Questions & Answers!!!

Helloooooo Pooches, Cats ‘n Jammers! Hootie has taken over our blog for several posts now, so I have decided it is time to take it back. So, it is time once again for answers to some of our friend’s burning (& not so burning) questions.

Rocky Creek Scotties and Java said...
We often wonder if the excitement of the run is worth being tied up and on leash. But sometimes we try it anyway.XOXOLilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java

Baby Rocket Dog: Though this was actually not really posed as a qq I’ll add my 2cents. Yes, the excitement is wayyyy worth it! I get Mommy to build up her trust in me, then ZAP!! --- I make a run for it. Chasing the deer and feeling the wind in my tail and the wet, dirty forest floor bushes scratching my back makes my imprisonment worth it for at least a few days. sigh.

Inky and Molly said... Q: Are you allowed on the pinkies bed and can you post some pictures?
AND
Noah the Airedale said... We would like to know the answer to the question Inky & Molly asked about being allowed on the bed.tailwagsNoah Willow Tess Lucy

BRD: Well actually I am not allowed on their bed…but I jump up on it once in a while in pursuit of the Hootie or if there is something there that I desire. Our mommy experimented with letting me up there down in Phoenix last April, but their bed is small and really not enough room for the whole crew, so I was once again banished. Hootie on the other hand sleeps half the night up on their bed. Not fair really, but Mommy tries to make it up to me with fluffy doggy pillows all over the floor. BUT, guess what? I sleep on the sofa in the living room and don‘t usually have to share that with anybody! (the pics below are from down in Phoenix in April.)

I have a question: What is the best way for a proper Welsh dog to beg?

BRD: I’ll give this one to Hootie since he’s the Welshie around here. Take it Hoots!

Hootie: Well, ‘cuz I’m so cute I rarely have to beg, but I’m real good at sitting and staring up, looking really darling. I have tried sitting on my bum with paws cocked, but usually end up jumping. I’m an out of control jumper. Sorry Mom and Dad. It’s who I am. Not sure if other Welsh Terriers are as nuts as I am though.

NORWOOD UNLEASHEDsaid…
what's the funniest or craziest thing you have done?

Hootie: Oh I get this one. Craziest thing: I nearly gave Momma apoplexy last December. She fell asleep for a nap and took off her diamond ear studs, hooking them together and laying them on her chest. Well, when she awoke she forgot about them. She heard me crunching on something…but I swallowed ‘whatever it was’ before she could get to me. A few hours later she remembered her earrings and searched all over the bed and the floor for them. Then, the light came on over her head! I ATE THEM!!! She called the vet and he said to search through my poo for a few days & if they didn’t turn up I’d need to go in for surgery. Well, she found all kinds of exciting things in my stool…candle wax and wick, stinky bugs & flys, the nose to her snowman ornament and finally at the end of day 2, her earrings. Yes, that was a day of rejoicing indeed. I was just glad that she was no longer following me around in 5 feet of snow with a plastic freezer bag!!

(these are the diamond earrings---the posts were both completely bent over! hehe.)

Sorry I forgot to ask a question. Can I ask two now to make up for it?Hootie. Are you REALLY in love with Lacie? If the answer is yes I have a further question for BRD!!!BRD. Hmm...think your welshie brother might be a sandwich short of a picnic?!!!Hah hah hah! Wiry wags n kisses Eric xxxx

Hootie: Yes, I love Lacie. She occasionally throws me a bone, and that’s good enough for me, because I also love Agatha and have my eye on a few other lovely lady pooches. I was signed up with Scooby’s dating service for a while, but decided I want to be free and play the field. I get mad crushes on many of the more full-figured pooches too, but so far none of them has shown an interest in compact, l’il ole me!

BRD: Yes, yes, you’ve nailed it Eric! He IS a sandwich & a pickle short of a picnic!!

Agatha and Archie said...
We do have a little question..What are you afraid of in the dark??
BRD: I’m not really sure. I’ve always been a bit timid, especially for an Airedale so at night I tend to stick close to the cabin. (Certain noises really scare me so maybe it’s the
scary forest noises that keep me close to home.)

Sorry you are being grounded for a bit. Hoomans just don't have a sense of humour do they? hee hee.
BRD & H: Man, you can say THAT again!! We just keep smiling and hoping that Daddy and Mommy will eventually get the joke.

Sorry to hear you two have been naughty. But it sure is nice to feel the wind beneath your wings eh?

BRD & H: You betcha!!

Ciao BRD and Hootie!I, Lucia, have a question, asked on behalf of la mia ragazza, who loves BRD's name. Here's the question:Baby Rocket Dog, how did you get your bellissima name??

BRD: Back when I was just a little 10# pup Mommy called me Baby. She went 2 days before giving me my full name because she wanted just the perfect name to describe me. When we’d go to the park I’d run like the wind, with my legs crossing, just like the picture for the famous Rocket Dog shoes.! That was how I became Baby Rocket Dog. (We have since found that the pooch for the Life Is Good brand has the name Rocket also!) Thank you soooo much for saying my name is bellissima!

Well friends, this wraps up our Q & A session. Hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have.

We are posting a few OLD photos of us (July of 2008) since I was such a cute little puppy and we need to soften Mommy up since she is still a bit mad at us.

Oh man, couldn't believe that we only got one question for the "Ask Us Anything" post. I guess most of our buddies don't think we are worthy. sigh. Well phooey!

We really have been pretty naughty at home lately so you're probably right. We were with Mommy all morning. Went to the last Farmers Market of the season with her and sat in the car when she went to the doctor. Accompanied her to the post office to check the mail and once again sat in the car when she went to get her Rx filled at the pharmacy. Not really what WE consider an exciting day, so when we got home to the cabin and Mommy let us out of the car ~~~we made a run for it!! Side by side we took off like bats out of h--- down the steepest side of our property! Clean out of sight. Mommy ran inside and came out & blew the whistle-...nothing. Then she rang the bell...still nothing. We needed to feel the wind beneath our wings so felt it necessary to ignore the old gal. Anyway, long story short, she had to get in the car and drive down to the county road to find us. Now not only are we going to be tied up when we aren't in our kennel outside, but she said she will escort us out of the car from now on on a leash. The exception will be when she allows us out at night since Baby Rocket Dog is afraid of the dark so doesn't lead me astray then. (I always blame her, since she is a year and half older than I.)

Mommy says we need to regain her trust now. We'll see. WelshieSmooches, Hootie

Now, here is Dewey's qq:

Gee guys....I have ta tell ya that when I saw those pictures on yer blog of lacie 'n 'er....shall we say.....unpredictable....unflattering.....naw...let's tell it like it is...Lacie is a _itch.....'n that's why they call female dogs that unmentionable name...all becuz of Lacie....scared me under the table...made my tail hug the ground....made me slink around the room...Hootie could never be as mean as Lacie.....not ever...Ok my question....What time do ya want ta eat yer dinner and what food on the menu is yer favorite ????Dewey Dewster here....
September 26, 2009 6:37 PM

BabyRD: Thanks Dewey Dewster for playing our little game. I like to eat dinner at 4pm on the dot. I also like to have my breakfast between 7 and 730am. In fact, I am quite insistent and give Mom the heavy pooch-paw on the arm if she is late! I am a big fan of IAMs lamb & rice because I used to have a very touchy stomach and it was one of the few foods I wouldn't barff up! I enjoy corn on the cob, peanut butter and carrots as treats, as well as various Merrick's bones and Vitabones.

Hootie: I always wait until Baby is done with her dinner, then I start mine. She likes to hang around and try to have some of mine, so I usually give her a ferocious growl and tell her to back off. We both are fans of IAMs lamb and rice and Mommy puts chicken broth on mine sometimes too. I eat whatever BabyRD eats, but I eat much slower and truly enjoy my treats. In fact, I often put myself in the little kennel to eaqt my snacks so Baby won't bother me! Oh, and we've recently discovered a new treat imported from Ireland. Can't think of the name at the moment but will insert it when next time we are at the wi-fi spot!!

Hope you all have a terrific weekend.
